From Meyer Motorsports
Meyer Motorsports teamed with PartsGroup.com to run the NASA South-East 9 hour Enduro at the high speed 2.5 mile Road Atlanta race course. Driving the PartsGroup.com Mazda RX-8 were drivers Tom Neel, Jay Andrew and Eric Meyer. Each driver ran 3 stints to take the car to the NASA E1 class win.“Blending two teams without experience working together and pulling off a class win is a big deal” says Meyer Motorsports team owner Eric Meyer. “Both teams quickly figured out how to execute the various duties needed to execute a fast-paced, error-free, multi pit stop, numerous driver change strategy”. For 9 hours the newly partnered teams ran the #57 rotary powered 6 speed Mazda hard and fast to catch and then pull away from the various class leaders. Except for a broken shock, the car performed flawlessly.
Driver Jay Andrew: “I was really impressed with how much life was left in the brakes after 9 hours and then Tom ran the car the next day with at least 50% of the DTC-60 front pad left. Amazing pad wear given the high temperatures the brakes saw in Turn 10. No drama at all”.
