Congratulations to Rhys Millen for winning Formula Drift Las Vegas this past Saturday! Rhys Millen uses the Enkei PF01 Racing Series wheels on his Red Bull Hyundai Genesis!

Las Vegas proves victorious for Rhys Millen and Team RMR in the Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

Round 6 of Formula Drift takes the RMR Team to sunny Las Vegas, Nevada. With temperatures reaching at one point 119 degrees, the Red Bull / Hyundai Genesis Coupe performed flawlessly all weekend long in such extreme conditions.

Qualifying got underway just after sunset on Friday. Competitors struggled to hold the high speed first corner entry reaching at some points over 100 mph. Millen would put down a qualifying score of 93 good enough for 2nd place just behind Matt Powers for Saturdays main competition.

The road to victory after dark paired the Hyundai up against Dodge, Nissan, BMW and Saturn. The finial battle would put Millen’s 4.1L V6 up against Darren McNamara’s 6.7L V8 Saturn Sky. With the incredible high speed grip of the Hankook Tires and the development achievements put into this Hyundai’s chassis and engine, RMR brought home the highly desirable carbon 1st place trophy to Huntington Beach.

Some interesting facts from this season:
RMR is the only car in the top 20 to be using the OEM engine and chassis combination.
Genesis Coupe retains 85 percent of the factory engine components.
Only none V8 to win an event in the 2011 series.
RMR gave Hankook Tires there 2nd win for the season.
Team RMR next stopping point will be the Formula Drifts final event Round 7: Title Fight at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on October 7-8.
