President of Formula Drift, Jim Liaw and The Full Tilt Poker/Mazda Nitto Drift Team recently visited UCLA’s John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management. Jim Liaw was invited to give an informative seminar to the MBA program. Over forty graduate students attended the seminar, where Jim Liaw explained how he used his education from UCLA to form the successful motorsports series Formula Drift.

“It was quite an honor to be invited back to UCLA and show what can be accomplished from an alum. The students were very excited and curious to the workings of a motorsports events business. Everyone had a great time.” Said Jim Liaw President of Formula Drift.

In addition, after Jim Liaw had spoke to the graduate students, they were all invited outside of the classroom to view an actual drift racecar. Present outside were the Full Tilt Poker Mazda Nitto Drift Team. New Full Tilt Poker pilot hot shoe, Joon Maeng was present to answer questions regarding the Mazda RX8 as well Formula Drift. “It was a great change to visit UCLA. The students there were very enthusiastic about drifting and seeing the Mazda. I’m so used to taking racecars to the motorsports related events, but attending UCLA was quite refreshing.” Said Joon Maeng pilot of the Full Tilt Poker Mazda Nitto Drift Team.

Bergenholtz Racing has completely finalized the Full Tilt Poker Mazda/Nitto RX8 and is scheduled to start testing immediately every week for the next six weeks. The car recently was re-tuned and spun the dyno rollers to over 600hp at only 12 pounds of boost. “The dyno session was the last part on the list. Mazdatrix did some new changes this season and we are really impressed. The only thing left to do is test, test, test and get Joon really comfortable with the Mazda. I know we can succeed in Long Beach on April 9-10 as long as we test non-stop. I know Joon can accomplish amazing things this Formula Drift season.” Said Ron Bergenholtz Team Manager of Bergenholtz Racing.
